Injury Crash Reported on W 385 S

Hurricane, UT (October 9, 2026) – On Tuesday, October 6, a crash left at least one person injured on 6296 West & 385 South in Hurricane.

Hurricane Police and emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the collision involved a Jeep and a white sedan, and at least one of the vehicles ended up against a wall. The extent of the injuries has not been specified.

It is not clear how the accident unfolded. Authorities continue to investigate.

Our thoughts are with those affected as they recover.

How Much Personal Injury Protection Coverage Must Drivers Carry in Hurricane, UT?

Utah law requires drivers to carry at least $3,000 in personal injury protection (PIP) for each person covered by the policy. This no-fault coverage pays medical expenses and certain other losses regardless of who caused the injury. Many policies offer higher limits, and the declarations page shows what a driver actually bought.

PIP is only the first layer of recovery. Under Utah's no-fault system, an injured person can generally pursue a claim for pain and suffering against an at-fault driver only after meeting a threshold. This could include death, dismemberment, permanent disability or impairment based on objective findings, permanent disfigurement, or medical expenses above $3,000.

The threshold depends on medical costs and objective findings, treatment records can shape whether a liability claim moves forward. Insurers may question whether treatment was related to the injury, and gaps in care can invite those arguments.

A car accident lawyer can review treatment records and billing to see whether the threshold may be met and how PIP payments fit alongside a claim against another driver's insurance.
