Polaris Vehicle Fire Lawyers
Cutt, Kendell & Olson ACCEPTS POLARIS RZR FIRE CLAIMS NATIONWIDE
The Polaris RZR is popular with off-road enthusiasts across the United States. Polaris aggressively markets the promise of fun, safe adventures that are attainable with an RZR. Unfortunately, many of Polaris’ off-road vehicle models have serious design and manufacturing defects that have injured and killed riders.
Cutt, Kendell & Olson is a national leader in catastrophic Polaris fire litigation. We have been investigating and litigating these cases since 2015 and have represented over a dozen individuals who were catastrophically harmed in Polaris vehicle fires. Our team has the experience, resources, and tenacity to take on the most serious cases, even when big companies like Polaris are on the other end. Consumers deserve safety, and Polaris must be held accountable for the countless lives its faulty vehicles have affected.
You can read some of their stories in this New York Times profile.
Polaris Off-Road Vehicle Defects Endanger Consumers
According to the CPSC, Polaris knew as early as 2013 that a manufacturing defect was causing some of its vehicles to catch fire. Yet, it was not until our 15-year-old client died as the result of a Polaris RZR fire in 2015 that Polaris finally made a sweeping recall of the vehicles. Even this reaction took months.
As of this writing, Polaris has recalled around half a million vehicles, and yet, fires continue to happen. Certain vehicles from the current model year have already been recalled for fire hazards, among other failures. In the last decade, Polaris was behind 40 of 110 off-road vehicle recalls, far more than any other company. Polaris vehicles have caused more than 250 fires, in excess of 30 severe injuries, and at least 4 deaths. A Polaris RZR was also responsible for a 15-acre forest fire in American Fork Canyon. This 2019 article from the New York Times profiled some of the victims of these tragic fires.
Most recently, Eric Olson, was interviewed by Mike Headrick of KSL about the fact that Polaris RZR fires continue to happen and endanger users.
Dangerous Polaris models include:
- Polaris RZR
- Polaris Ranger
- Polaris General
- Polaris Sportsman
- Polaris ACE
We Won’t Quit Until Polaris Does
Despite Polaris’ recalls, some Polaris RZRs are still spontaneously catching fire. Riders are suffering serious burn injuries that will affect them for the rest of their lives. Polaris has issued additional recalls of vehicles with model years through 2021. In December of 2017, the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a statement that users of vehicles were still reporting total-loss fires caused by vehicles that had been repaired per Polaris’ recall instructions.
In April 2018, Polaris settled with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission over allegations that the company failed to immediately report defective models, despite having such information. Immediately following this settlement, Polaris issued an expanded recall of the RZR XP 1000 for model years 2014-2018. Multiple people have been injured in RZR fires since these recalls.

Since accepting our first RZR case, we have developed an extensive body of knowledge about the RZR, Ranger, and Sportsman models and why they catch fire. Our lawyers have deposed key Polaris executives and other crucial witnesses.
We brought together a team of expert engineers to investigate Polaris fires, inspect Polaris machines and conduct testing to determine what is wrong with them. We have even purchased RZRs for testing, with the goal of becoming as knowledgeable about the vehicle as Polaris’ engineers.
