Pleasant Grove, UT (November 6, 2026) – Three people were hurt in a wreck that involved a Toyota Camry, a Honda Civic, and a Jeep Cherokee in Pleasant Grove on Wednesday, November 4.
The northbound Interstate 15 exit ramp to Pleasant Grove Boulevard was closed at 3:48 p.m. and stayed shut for several hours.
The Camry's driver was in extremely critical condition, and a second person was also in critical shape. The third person had minor injuries.
The Utah Department of Transportation briefly closed the overpass above Interstate 15 so a medical flight could land, and it left for the hospital around 4:30 p.m.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
We are thinking of all three people and their families as they recover.
How Utah's No-Fault Threshold Affects Serious Injury Claims in Pleasant Grove, UT
Utah is a no-fault state, so every auto policy must include personal injury protection, or PIP. It covers at least $3,000 in medical expenses for the policyholder and others on the policy, no matter who caused the accident. PIP can also pay part of lost wages and certain household services.
To step outside the no-fault system and sue the at-fault driver for pain and suffering, a person usually has to meet Utah's tort threshold. That means reasonable medical bills over $3,000, or an injury such as a broken bone, permanent disfigurement, permanent disability, or dismemberment. Death also meets the threshold. Most serious injuries clear that bar quickly, which opens the door to a full liability claim.
Once the threshold is met, Utah's comparative fault rule decides how much a person can recover. A claimant can collect damages only if their share of fault is less than that of the other parties combined, and the amount is reduced by that percentage.
In these cases, a car accident lawyer can document medical expenses to show the threshold has been met, identify every policy that may apply, and push back if an insurer tries to shift blame.
