One Critically Hurt in Hit-and-Run on 800 E

Spanish Fork, UT (November 5, 2026) – A 25-year-old man is in critical condition after a driver struck him and kept going on Wednesday, November 4. Spanish Fork Police said it happened around 5:53 p.m. near 800 East and 300 North.

The pedestrian was walking east across 800 East with three other people. He had nearly reached the other side when a northbound vehicle hit him.

He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The vehicle may have been a white van. Camera footage from a nearby home appears to show a white van heading north around the time of the crash.

The crash continues to be investigated.

We hope for his steady recovery.

Coverage Paths After a Hit-and-Run in Spanish Fork, UT

When a driver flees, an injured pedestrian's own insurance usually becomes the main source of payment. Utah requires every auto policy to include at least $3,000 in personal injury protection. That coverage generally applies to the policyholder and relatives in the household even if they are struck while walking. It pays medical bills and part of lost wages no matter who was at fault.

Serious injuries usually cost far more than $3,000. Uninsured motorist coverage is meant for cases where the driver can't be identified, and in Utah it can apply to a pedestrian hit by an unknown vehicle.

Insurers must offer this coverage, and it stays on a policy unless the policyholder turns it down in writing. Pedestrians who don't own a car may still be covered under the policy of a relative they live with.

If the driver is identified later, a claim against that driver's liability insurance may also be possible. Utah allows claims for pain and suffering only once medical bills pass $3,000 or certain serious injuries occur, and serious pedestrian injuries often meet that bar.

Reporting a hit-and-run promptly supports an uninsured motorist claim. A pedestrian accident lawyer can gather that footage, notify every insurer involved and keep the claim within Utah's four-year filing deadline for injury cases.
