Two Hospitalized After Crash on I-15 in Salt Lake City, UT

Two Hospitalized After Crash on I-15

Salt Lake City, UT (October 19, 2026) – Three vehicles were involved in a wreck on northbound Interstate 15 around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 18.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a black Audi was speeding when its driver lost control and hit a red Toyota and a gray Subaru.

The Audi rolled, and its driver was thrown from the car and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The Toyota's driver was injured as well and was stable as of Sunday night. There was no word on whether anyone in the Subaru was hurt.

Investigators are still reviewing what led up to the collision.

Our thoughts are with the people involved as they recover.

Can You Sue After a Car Accident in Salt Lake City, UT?

Yes, in many cases. Utah is a no-fault state, so personal injury protection coverage generally pays the first $3,000 of medical bills regardless of fault. A person can usually pursue the at-fault driver for pain and other general damages after medical costs pass $3,000 or when the injury is a fracture or permanent disability.

Personal injury protection is meant to get treatment paid quickly, without waiting for a decision on fault. Utah drivers must carry at least $3,000 in this coverage, though higher limits are available. Medical expenses may count toward the lawsuit threshold, which helps explain why accurate records matter from the very first visit.

Insurers sometimes dispute whether a threshold has been met, particularly when an injury does not show clearly on imaging. Therefore, it is important to preserve treatment records, itemized bills, and diagnoses tied to the injury to give those disputes something concrete to rest on.

Utah generally allows four years to file a personal injury lawsuit, and reviewing the policy and records with a car accident lawyer can clarify which threshold may apply and how that deadline fits the claim.
