How Is Fault Determined After a Head-On Collision in Box Elder County, UT?
Fault after a head-on collision in Box Elder County is determined by examining whether one driver crossed the center line, entered the opposing lane, or made another driving error that contributed to the crash.
Police reports, photos, vehicle damage, and witness accounts can help reconstruct what happened before impact. This evidence may show each vehicle’s direction of travel, road position, and movements leading up to the collision.
While you receive treatment, your own personal injury protection (PIP) coverage under Utah law can pay early medical bills, no matter who caused the crash. Those benefits can limit out-of-pocket costs while a claim is reviewed.
Once your losses become clearer, you may seek compensation from the at-fault driver beyond PIP, including lost income, vehicle damage, and pain and suffering. Future care and time away from work may also be part of the claim.
If you share some of the blame, your recovery goes down by your share of fault. Being equally or more at fault than the other driver can stop you from recovering at all.
When an insurer questions who caused the crash, a car accident lawyer can gather evidence to show how the collision happened and address disputes over fault. An attorney can also handle insurance calls and paperwork while you focus on your recovery.
