73-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle

North Ogden, UT (October 5, 2026) – A 73-year-old woman was killed Saturday evening, October 3, after a vehicle struck her near 1700 North and 400 East. The wreck happened shortly after 7 p.m.

North Ogden Police said she was taken to a local hospital, where she lost her life. Her identity and any information about arrests had not been released.

The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.

We are keeping her family and friends in our thoughts.

Who Can Be at Fault When a Pedestrian Is Struck in North Ogden, UT?

Fault depends on the facts, and more than one person can share it. Utah law generally requires drivers to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and to use reasonable care to avoid hitting anyone on the road. Meanwhile, pedestrians outside crosswalks are expected to yield to vehicles. Investigators and insurers weigh those duties to assign percentages of fault.

Utah applies a modified comparative fault rule. This means a person can recover damages only if his or her share of fault is less than 50 percent, and any award is reduced by that share. These percentages can change a claim a lot, so details about speed, lighting, and crossing location can matter a great deal.

Evidence is how those percentages get tested in any crash. Crosswalk markings, street lighting, camera footage, vehicle data, and witness accounts can all help show what a driver could see and when. On busy routes like Washington Boulevard in North Ogden, business cameras may overwrite footage within days, so timing can affect what is still available. Working with a wrongful death lawyer early can help families request and preserve those records before they are lost.

Sorting out who may share fault after a pedestrian is struck can take time, and our team at Cutt, Kendell & Olson Attorneys at Law is available to talk it through. We can go over your situation and explain how Utah's comparative fault rule and laws may apply to your case.
