Taylorsville, UT (November 2, 2026) – A woman lost her life Saturday, October 31, after a two-vehicle wreck at 2700 West and 5400 South.
Taylorsville Police and emergency units were called to the intersection around 10:20 p.m. She was driving one of the vehicles.
Emergency units had to free a male passenger from the same vehicle before he was taken to hospital, where he was in stable condition. She was also taken to hospital. While the intersection was still being cleared, word came that she had gone into full cardiac arrest and later died.
The driver of the other vehicle, a dark blue car, stayed at the intersection and cooperated with officers. He was not seriously hurt.
A reconstruction team was called in after her death. The investigation remains ongoing.
Our condolences go out to her family and loved ones.
Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim in Taylorsville, UT?
In Utah, a wrongful death claim can be brought by the deceased person's heirs or by a personal representative acting for them. Heirs may include a spouse, children, and in some cases parents, depending on the family's circumstances. Utah law generally gives families two years from the date of death to file, so timing deserves early attention.
These claims may seek compensation for funeral and burial costs, final medical bills, lost financial support, and the loss of a loved one's companionship and guidance.
Each of those losses usually needs documentation, such as bills, pay records, and family testimony. Fault also matters, because Utah uses a comparative fault system that can reduce or bar a recovery depending on how responsibility is divided.
Sorting out who is responsible for a crash and who qualifies as an heir, typically takes records and time. Legal guidance from a wrongful death lawyer can help a family gather those records, identify the right parties, and keep track of the filing deadline.
At Cutt, Kendell & Olson Attorneys at Law, we can walk families through who may qualify to file and how Utah's two-year deadline may apply to each specific situation.
