Logan, UT (May 14, 2026) – A multi-vehicle pileup left seven people hurt on US-91 near the Utah/Idaho border. The accident happened on Wednesday, May 13, around 4 p.m. and was reportedly triggered by a dust storm that sharply reduced visibility in the area.
Eight vehicles were involved in the crash. Six people were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, and one person was transported with serious injuries.
The identities of those involved have not been released. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
Our thoughts remain with those injured, and we wish them all a full and speedy recovery.
Main Roads in Logan, UT: The City's Key Highways
Logan, in Utah, sits in the heart of Cache Valley and is served by a network of highways that connect residents, commuters, and travelers to the broader region. The city's most prominent road corridor is Main Street, which runs north-south through the urban core and carries two major U.S. highways along much of its length.
US-89 and US-91 overlap along Main Street, forming the primary spine of Logan's road system. In Logan, US-89 forms the southern portion of Main Street before splitting off to the east, passing by the campus of Utah State University, and then heading up Logan Canyon toward Bear Lake.
US-91, meanwhile, continues north through Cache Valley to the Idaho state line after the two highways diverge in Logan. This highway serves as the major thoroughfare for Cache Valley, and Logan is the largest city along its route.
To the south, both highways connect to I-15 through Brigham City, making Logan's road network part of a larger corridor linking Cache Valley to the Wasatch Front and Salt Lake City.
The segment from Logan to Bear Lake along US-89 has been designated a National Scenic Byway, known as the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway.
Heavy traffic, weather events like dust storms, and long commutes make Logan's roads unpredictable at times, and sadly, this often translates into frequent car accidents in the area.
