Salt Lake City, UT (September 16, 2026) – A pedestrian died after a hit-and-run crash near 400 South and Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City on Wednesday, September 16. The crash happened at about 12:45 a.m.
Reports indicate that a driver struck the pedestrian and left without stopping. Friends of the injured pedestrian called emergency services, and the pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they later died from their injuries.
Westbound traffic on 400 South was briefly closed while police worked at the crash site. All lanes have since reopened.
