CKO attorneys presented a two-part legal webinar for insurance agents and brokers last Thursday, May 28th. Our team would like to thank Rich Humpherys, who coordinated the webinar.
The morning session, Legal Duties of Agents and Brokers, covered general insurance law, as well as insurance agents’ and brokers’ legal duties pertaining to obtaining insurance, termination of insurance, and claims for coverage. Topics ranged between guidelines for notice and reporting of claims; ambiguities in the insurance contract; and duties of insurance carriers and their agents, including the duty of good faith and fair dealing.
The afternoon session, Liabilities of Agents and Brokers, discussed the multiple kinds of liability affecting policyholders and insurers, going into further detail about insurance agents’ and brokers’ involvement in claims and litigation lawsuits. The CKO attorney team provided numerous examples from cases to help agents and brokers understand the legal process and how they may be asked to participate.
