Salt Lake City, UT (September 1, 2026) – A head-on collision involving a Utah Transit Authority bus left one man dead and five people hospitalized on Redwood Road in Salt Lake City on Monday, August 31. The wreck occurred shortly before 2 p.m. near 1050 South.
Salt Lake City police said a gray sedan was traveling south on Redwood Road when it crossed into the northbound lanes and struck the northbound bus head-on.
Emergency personnel arrived and assisted the people involved. The sedan driver died, while a front-seat passenger was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Four bus passengers were also taken to hospitals with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Additional passengers received treatment at the crash site, while the bus driver was able to walk away from the wreck.
The Salt Lake City Police Department continues to investigate what caused the sedan to cross into oncoming traffic.
