Salt Lake City, UT (June 25, 2026) – Two people were critically hurt after a car left the road and hit a wall at 500 North and Columbus Street in Salt Lake City on Wednesday morning, June 24. The crash happened around 2 a.m.
According to authorities, the vehicle had been traveling north on Columbus Street when it left the roadway. Emergency crews responded and removed both occupants from the vehicle.
Both victims were initially listed in critical condition at the crash scene. Police later said their injuries no longer appeared to be life-threatening.
The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating what caused the car to leave the road.
We hope the injured people make a full and swift recovery.
What Compensation Is Available After a Serious Crash in Salt Lake City, UT?
After a serious wreck in Salt Lake City, compensation depends on fault, injury severity, and available insurance. Utah’s no-fault system usually requires your PIP coverage to pay first. If injuries meet Utah’s serious injury threshold, you may seek more compensation.
The Capitol Hill area, including 500 North, North Temple, and State Street, can see serious crashes for reasons different from major highways. Late-night travel may involve fatigue, poor visibility, and fewer witnesses. Fixed-object crashes can cause severe injuries quickly.
When injuries are serious enough to move beyond no-fault coverage, compensation may include more than basic medical bills. You may recover medical costs beyond PIP limits, lost future income, pain and suffering, and other losses. Strong records help prove the impact.
Because both people in this crash were initially listed in critical condition, Utah law may classify their injuries as serious. A car accident attorney in Salt Lake City can review your records and explain whether you may pursue a claim beyond no-fault coverage.
Even when injuries improve from critical to non-life-threatening, recovery can still take months. Ongoing treatment, therapy, missed work, and daily pain can create serious financial pressure. Settling too early may leave you without enough compensation for recovery.
When two occupants are hurt in the same crash, they may each have a separate injury claim. A lawyer can track each person’s treatment, handle insurance talks, and pursue available compensation.
